Vinted Shoppers Share Anger Over Sizing Updates

Vinted users have been reacting angrily following a change that caused listings displaying inaccurate size information.

This online marketplace has revised its size classifications for women's and children's clothes without notifying all shoppers about the modification.

Online Platforms Backlash

Countless users and merchants have taken to social media saying Vinted listings now show a different size category than originally posted because of the remapping.

Vinted explained the updated approach better aligns with other platforms.

The platform has recommended to check their listings and update the measurements by hand if necessary, resulting in member annoyance.

Size Classification Updates

Previously, the sizes had both a single numeric size and a letter, such as S/8 or M/10.

The new system has a letter and a range like S/UK 8-10.

In some cases, the measurements have been reclassified - such as a large size used to be a 12 but now shows as UK 16-18.

Member Experiences

Frankie Bridger, who produces content about larger sizing, said the change "makes both selling and buying harder".

"Not many brands say XL is a 20-22," the way the service now categorizes.

Stephanie Gallen, located in Scotland, said garments she listed featuring size 14 markings were showing in the marketplace as measurements 20-22.

"If anyone [who is] size 20-22 buys them they're going to be very disappointed," she explained.

Required Changes

Another shopper, located in England, stated she felt frustrated by the change as she had to manually change the sizes on "every single listing".

"This situation is especially annoying, as I'm chronically ill and selling on Vinted has been paramount for me since losing part of my income," she stated.

Platform Context

The platform boasts over 100 million shoppers, comprising 18 million UK members.

It has become a favored option versus similar marketplaces including eBay and Depop.

This represents another occasion that an unexpected update to the app has proved unpopular: earlier, the service retracted a modification regarding delivery choices due to shopper criticism.
